Dear Colleagues!

The 13th International Eclogite Conference (IEC-13) will take place in Petrozavodsk, Karelia, Russia, in June 24-27th, 2019. The conference covers a wide range of issues, including metamorphic petrology, mineralogy, geochemistry and geochronology of high-pressure and ultra-high-pressure complexes worldwide, as well as their link with the global geological processes. The conference includes four days of pre- and post-conference field trips, and a mid-conference excursion for all participants.

The conference will be held in the Main Conference Hall of the Karelian Research Centre, which is ~5 minutes walk from the Cosmos Petrozavodsk Hotel (formerly Onego Palace Hotel), where all the delegates will be accommodated.

Planned conference sessions

  • The Chronology of Eclogite Facies Metamorphic Rocks
  • The eclogites in orogenic belts: geodynamic consequences
  • Garnet Peridotites and Mantle Eclogites
  • The Microstructures and Microchemistry of High-Pressure and Ultra-High-Pressure Minerals
  • The Chemical Geodynamics of Subduction Zones
  • Modeling of subduction zone processes

Invited keynote speakers (the list might be extended)

  • Hao Cheng (China)
  • Larissa Dobrzhinetskaya (USA)
  • Shah Wali Faryad (Czech Republic)
  • Chiara Groppo (Italy)
  • Herman van Roermund (Netherlands)

Brief outline of the International Eclogite Conference (IEC)

The International Eclogite Conference (IEC) was established by David C. Smith who convened the first meeting in Clermont-Ferrand, France, in 1982. The main purpose of the conferences which are organized in different countries every two years is to promote the worldwide communication and cooperation among the scientists, studying the high-pressure and ultrahigh-pressure rocks.

On the IEC-12 in Åre, Sweden in 2017 the Scientific Committee of the Conference made a decision to hold the next IEC in Russia (Petrozavodsk, Karelia Republic).
