Brief outline of the International Eclogite Conference (IEC)
The International Eclogite Conference (IEC) was established by David C. Smith who convened the first meeting in Clermont-Ferrand, France, in 1982. The main purpose of the conferences which are organized in different countries every two years is to promote the worldwide communication and cooperation among the scientists, studying the high-pressure and ultrahigh-pressure rocks.
On the IEC-12 in Åre, Sweden in 2017 the Scientific Committee of the Conference made a decision to hold the next IEC in Russia (Petrozavodsk, Karelia Republic).
