The 13th International Eclogite Conference (IEC) took place in Petrozavodsk, Karelia, Russia, in June 24-27th, 2019.

The IEC is a regular international scientific meeting, which brings together the leading researchers, studying metamorphic petrology, mineralogy, geochemistry and geochronology of high-pressure and ultra-high-pressure complexes worldwide. Russia held the IEC-13 in 2019 for the first time. 177 researchers from Brazil, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States of America, took part in the conference. The authors of the presentations are 264 people from 24 countries. 55 oral presentations were performed during the conference, including 6 keynote talks from the leading scientists in the field of the high-pressure and ultra-high-pressure rock-forming processes, and 38 poster presentations were also arranged.

88 researchers took part in the pre- and post-conference field excursions in north Karelia (Gridino) and south of Murmansk region (Kuru-Vaara and Salma), where unique Precambrian eclogites are exposed. The excursions were organized and conducted by the scientists from the Institute of Geology, Karelian Research Centre RAS; Geological Institute, Kola Science Center RAS; Geological Institute RAS (Moscow). Abstract volumes and field guidebooks “Early Precambrian eclogites of the Belomorian Province, Fennoscandian Shield” were prepared and provided for the participants of the conference and pre- and post-conference field excursions.

The conference was supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russian Federation.
