Dear Colleagues!

Many fundamental problems in the early evolution of the Earth, including those in geodynamics, remain the subject of animated debate. Therefore, we cannot understand the Earth’s evolutionary trends and conduct science-based mineral prospecting in old terranes that likely contain tremendous mineral resources. One way of approaching this problem is to actively use comparative analysis to compare Early Precambrian and Phanerozoic crustal evolution, considering that the geodynamic mechanisms responsible for the formation of modern structures, are easier to understand. To discuss various approaches to the above problems, the Institute of Geology at the Karelian Research Centre, RAS, the Institute of Precambrian Geology and Geochronology, RAS, the Precambrian Academic Board and the Section of Earth Sciences, RAS, with support from FASO are hosting the Scientific Conference “Early Precambrian vs Modern Geodynamics” from 29 to 31 May, 2017 for both Russian and foreign scientists.

  • Early Precambrian and Phanerozoic geodynamic processes: similarities and differences
  • Petrology of igneous and metamorphic processes in Early Precambrian and Phanerozoic geodynamic systems
  • Early Precambrian and Phanerozoic plume processes
  • Geological and petrologic indicators of lithospheric plate motion in the Early Precambrian and Phanerozoic
  • Geodynamic settings and metallogeny in the Early Precambrian and Phaner
  • Isotopic-geochemical data for geodynamic reconstruction
  • Geodynamic settings as habitats for early life
