The Institute of Geology, Karelian Research Centre, RAS, together with the Faculty of Geology, Moscow State University, the Geological Institute, RAS and the Geological Institute of the Kola Science Centre, RAS, with support from the Science Board on the Precambrian, Earth Sciences Section, and the International Mineralogical Association, Working Group “MINERAL EQUILIBRIA” (WGME) will host the Scientific Conference “Granulite and eclogite complexes in the Earth’s history” from 16 to 18 June, 2011.
Aspects of granulite and eclogite complexes to be discussed are:
1. Geological structure and composition;
3. Geochronology and geochemistry;
4. Geodynamic setting;
5. Variation over time in the Earth's evolution.
Dates and Venue
The meeting will be held in the Conference Room of the Institute of Geology, Karelian Research Centre, RAS (Petrozavodsk, Pushkinskaya St., 11), from 16 to 18 June, 2011.
Oral presentations and posters are welcome. Each speaker will have 20 minutes for an oral presentation (including questions) and 30 minutes for an invited paper.
Field trips to granulite and eclogite complexes of the eastern Fennoscandian Shield:
14 June – East shore of Lake Onega: Neoarchaean Onega granulites (by research vessel).
19-22 June – Archaean and Palaeoproterozoic eclogite complexes of the Belomorian province.
Information on hotel reservation in Petrozavodsk will be available at the Conference website.
Russian and English.
All presentations will be translated simultaneously.
Abstracts will be published in Russian and English in the Conference Proceedings volume.
Selected and peer-reviewed top quality presenations with original data/models from the conference will be published in a special issue of the international geoscience journal, "Gondwana Research" from Elsevier (www.elsevier.com/locate /gr; 2009 impact factor 4.605).
15 December, 2010: first day of acceptance of applications for attendance (with title of presentation)
1 February, 2011: deadline for acceptance of applications for attendance and first day of acceptance of abstracts.
1 March, 2011: deadline for submission of abstracts (in electronic form).
15 April, 2011: circulation of the Conference Programme.
13 June, 2011: first day of registration of attendees.
14 June, 2011: Pre-Conference Field Trip.
16-18 June, 2011: Conference.
19-22 June: Post-Conference Field Trip
